Palo Blanco (white wood) for the four corner posts that will be used to secure the palapa walls and roof. The builders are digging with shovels and a tin can.
Cactus spines are then nailed to the Palo blanco that will eventually hold the side wall material. It seems these current palapas have the addition of 2 by 4's to secure the roof.
Cactus spines used on the roof also.
Dried Palm leaves being soaked in the bay to eliminate any bugs that could continue to devour the palm leaves, thus eating away the roof and walls of the soon to be completed palapa.
Dried, then soaked, then secured to the roof and walls of the still incomplete palapa.
Finished palapa roof.
Completed Palapa. Again the cactus spines are used to secure the dried palm leaves on the walls and the roof. The palapa is a temporary beach shelter. We use ours to store our excess stuff. Lots of our fellow beach campers set up their kitchen in the palapa. Stove, Ice Chest, pots and pans, cooking utensils, etc
