Native American Net Fishing just Below the John Day Dam on the Columbia

This Native American arrived early this morning to check his nets. Apparently they hang the hoop net from the long poles extended from the front of the platform. I imagine he put the net  in the water sometime last night.
He has the net up on the platform. You can see the size of it as he is standing in the middle of it.
Another good view of the size of the net.  We counted 5 huge Salmon in his net. What an opportunity for us to have seen this process.
Here is a picture some of the fish out of the net. He has a piece of wood in his hand and is clubbing the fish over the head to kill them. We are not sure if he sells them at this time of year or uses them for his own consumption.
