San Javier Mission Trip

22 Miles up through the rugged Sierra Gigantas mountain range to Mission San Javier. They finally acquired electric power last year. The road was paved last year up to about 6 miles short of the town entrance. This quaint little community is rapidly become a frequent tourist destination.

This amazing Blanco Arbol (white tree) has threaded it's root system deep into the cracks of the rock. This massive root system runs both vertically and horizontally out through any available crack in the rock.
Artisans in San Javier. This bed frame is made from local trees and dried raw hide. The fellow making the bed said the raw hide is so strong it will warp the wood if not applied properly. It is very rigid to the touch. Amazing.
