In Search of Baby Whales in Lopez Mateos

This little fellow made a bee-line for our boat. Momma in-tow just out of the picture. Momma stayed close by at all times.

This Yearling Gray Whale just couldn't get enough of having his soft leathery skin rubbed.

Ahhhhhhh!
It looks to me like this little guy is smiling.
Getting his chin rubbed by Norm.

This energetic fellow was all over the place. Rubbing himself under the boat, rubbing himself over the top of Mom (on the right) and then over to us for  more.

A final breech up, and out of the water.  This little one was full of energy and very entertaining.

The Gray Whales  migrates south annually. Traveling several thousand miles down the to the warm waters in the lagoons of  Baja, BCS.
The first to arrive are the pregnant females (they are in a bit of a hurry). Followed  by  the singles, looking for a little action.

The gestation period for the Gray Whale is between 12 and 13  months.
