Persian Ibex in New Mexico


This is the Persian Ibex released in the Florida Mountain Range in New Mexico. These Ibex were brought from Iran in the 1970's. We were lucky to spot a small herd of females and kids early this morning. The picture is taken through our spotting scope. The males (not pictured) have 3 foot long horns that curl around to their backs. The males also have a beard. Below is a link to an interesting article on the Ibex in New Mexico.
