Inside the Arctic Circle

Crossing over into the Arctic Circle. On to the North Pole---- In search of Santa.

The Dempster Highway inside the Arctic Circle. Seeing these roads helps me to appreciate how daunting this job must have been from start to finish. The roads are built up on top of the permafrost. Usually not paved as it is almost impossible to maintain pavement with the melting and re-freezing of the permafrost.

One of the two free Ferry crossings on the Dempster. This crossing is at the confluence of the Red River and the Mackenzie River. A short distance on to Inuvik. The end of the Dempster Highway

The end of the Dempster. 2500 miles from home. 120 miles north of the Arctic Circle.
Driving the Dempster can be a very dirty process indeed.

  1. Holy Moley! Where's the RV wash when you need one! And we thought ours was dirty after just a trip to the coast. At least I can still tell it's a Lazy Daze by the shape in back. What an adventure!
