I am posting the map again to re-acquaint you with the Copper Canyon route.
Here it comes. El Chepe barreling down the tracks into El Fuerte.

Three nights in  El Fuerte. A small quaint town that caters to the Copper Canyon tourists. We took a float trip down the El Fuerte River to view the petroglyphs , ate fresh hot Churros from the square, toured the town and ate a lot of great food.

The first class Copper Canyon train consisted of two engines, two passenger cars and a dining car. All for 567 peso's per person just to get us to Bahuichivo.

                                                Time to Move On
The sun is shining, the sky is blue. Don't be fooled by appearances. It is cold! After all, it is January and our first night destination is just over 5000 feet.
On up the mountain we go.

Rocken and Rollen, Squeeken and Creaken.  At about 20-25 mph and 5 hours later we finally arrived at Bahuichivo. We hop into a waiting van for an 8 mile ride down to Cerocahui. Our first night stay in the Canyon.
