Leaving Niagra Falls and More of New York

The Locks at Lockport NY and the Erie Canal. This in-land waterway travels 363 miles through  upstate New York. From the Hudson River to Lake Erie.
I remember learning about the Erie Canal in grammar school. But I sure don't remember appreciating the magnitude of the Erie Canal Project.

Carved through a mountain ravine and completed in 1825 without  benefit of dynamite or machinery.
Opening a route for shipment of bulk goods and transport of people.

Dirty John's Dirty Dogs with   special sauce. Seems this is a favorite of the Queensbury NY crowd.

Fire Hydrant Art. We thought this was very Unique.
Burlington Vermont
This is a neat two sided water fountain in Vermont. Lovely Bessy having a drink in her new hat.
. Yipee! Thanks to Chris and Bessy we were out  kayaking  Lake George in NY. We must have paddled at least 8 miles. It was great fun.
Whiteface Mountain overlooking Lake Placid in the New York Adirondacks. Home of two past Olympics.
Here's Norm standing below the 120 meter Ski jump in Lake Placid NY.  Not too impressive from this perspective. But look at the photo below.

Now we are standing at the top of the 120 meter ski jump and looking down. We rode the lift up and then took an elevator 26 floors further up. I can't imagine pushing off in my skies from this height. Yikes!
The parking lot and road is the grayish area below and to the left.

A visit to NY is not complete without genuine New York Pizza. The secret is a bendable YET crispy crust. Prepared to perfection.
