Nova Scotia and Cape Breton

Last post we had just completed our tour around the Gaspe Peninsula in  Quebec. French being the predominant language spoken.

We entered New Brunswick and  advanced yet another hour in time. We are now in the Atlantic time zone and 4 hours later than in Oregon. It seems odd to count 4 hours ahead.

*Unlike Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia speak mostly English.
*I wasn't expecting the humidity in the North East.
*Walmarts have been a good source of overnight parking here in Canada and in the USA
*Nova Scotia is very big on recycling and the RV park here in Louisbourg even has a bin for composting.

Halifax Nova Scotia, where we enjoyed an  extended visit with Baja Buds Nick and Pam .
Well look who is  also visiting Nick and Pam----Baja Buds, Chris and Bessy from Queensbury NY.

How lucky to have this cute little bungalow on the waterfront.

Hmmm? Waterfront retirement. Something to think about.

As promised, Nick and Pam arranged Lobster until we could eat no more.
Early in the morning we drove out to a small lobster fishery on the waterfront. We purchased 16 fresh -- one pound lobsters. Two for each of us.

What a treat!

The next morning, Rob and Betty Ann
(Nicks brother and sister in law) lent the 4 of us their car for a trip to Peggy's Cove and on to  Lunenberg to the Knot Pub where we all sampled their famous  Cream of Mussel soup.

Did I mention Rob and Betty Ann provided parking and electricity for "the Beast" while in Halifax visiting Nick and Pam.

That evening we all boarded Nicks sail boat and motored up the bay to Halifax for  fireworks viewing  from the water.
Next morning down to the waterfront to watch the Bucksterfest (street performers) and sampled waterfront delicacies.

We spied this  cute little three wheeled bicycle on our way to Lunenburg NS. It has turn signals and lights and is mostly enclosed for inclement weather cycling.
It's called The Elf.
 Pretty cool.

Of course we had to try the Poutine ( a staple in Canada) and it is surprisingly very tasty.

Leaving Halifax for Cape Breton  and Cape Breton  Highlands National Park. Notice the road along the water and through the mountains where we encountered some of the steepest hills we have driven on to date. Fortunately I have a very skilled driver at the wheel. And it isn't me!

We visited Baddeck and Alexander Graham Bell Museum. The descendants of Alexander Graham Bell still live in Baddeck on the original estate and in the surrounding area.

 Louisbourg, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia

We hiked the ocean side trails around the Louisbourg Lighthouse.
Lots of lighthouses around  Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia due to the huge fishery business.

I couldn't resist another photo. It is lovely here in Louisbourg.
