Critters on Them Highways

Is this the look of exasperation from momma moose? Apparently momma was coaxing her offspring across the roadway when we came upon them. Startled, the young-un ran back in the direction he came from and hid behind a mound of earth. Momma moose was in no mood to deal with us or the Alaska Highway. Back across the highway she went to fetch the little one. Don't even think of trying to pass at this point!

We came across a momma black bear and her cubs hoofing it across the highway. If anyone thinks they can out-run a black bear, think again. Whew! Do they move.

Miles Canyon on Yukon. A suspension bridge to cross or you can charter a boat trip down this historic water pass. Many a gold miner barged his goods through this pass. However, at that time, this was white water. The current dam has eliminated the white water.Lots of hiking trails.

  1. Enjoying your travel accounts. Most people don't spend much time in Canada. They rush to get to Alaska. A shame.
